Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Do you need two separately removable baskets rather than one wide drawer with a divider?
The exact CAF-R901-AUS package has left and right baskets that pull out separately; the 9-quart TWINFRY uses one shared drawer instead.
Explore this need in the finder →Do two different foods need independent settings and a coordinated finish?
The manual documents separate time and temperature controls, and Sync Finish delays the shorter program until both time displays align.
Explore this need in the finder →Would the same settings be useful across both baskets for a larger similar-food batch?
Sync Cook mirrors time, temperature, Preheat and Shake Reminder settings across the two baskets. Broil is not supported in both baskets or with Sync Cook.
Explore this need in the finder →Must the exact manufacturer explicitly disclose PFAS-free food-contact surfaces?
The exact page does not make a PFAS-free claim; the available manual identifies a nonstick coating but does not establish PFAS status. This essential documentation requirement remains unknown for R901.
Explore this need in the finder →Do you only need one cooking zone for a particular meal?
The manual permits using either the left or right basket by itself. The product still has two physical pull-out baskets.
Explore this need in the finder →The COSORI CAF-R901-AUS is a 9-quart air fryer with two physically separate 4.5-quart baskets, not one wide drawer divided by a removable wall. Each basket can run with its own temperature, time and function, or you can use Sync Finish to schedule different foods to finish together. That distinction matters beside COSORI’s TWINFRY CAF-TF901-KUS, which also advertises 9 quarts and two cooking zones but has one shared drawer. The R901’s strongest case is the convenience of pulling out one smaller basket without moving the other; its headline capacity is still split between them.
Two baskets change the way you handle a meal
With both baskets installed, the manual says the left and right sides can be controlled independently. You can select a separate mode, time and temperature for each, and you may enable preheat or a shake reminder for a basket. The divided-basket arrangement is useful when a main and a side have different settings or when you want to unload one portion without disturbing the other. It also gives each basket its own viewing window, so you can check progress without pulling a drawer forward; a window is a convenience, not a substitute for checking whether food is done.
The total 9-quart capacity consists of two 4.5-quart baskets. There is no divider-out mode that joins those spaces into a single large basket. If an uninterrupted cooking area for a larger shape is essential, the TWINFRY is a more relevant COSORI alternative: it removes a divider to create its GrandZone, but that model’s two zones share one pull-out drawer. A single-basket TurboBlaze is another option if you do not need simultaneous settings and want a narrower one-drawer plan.
Sync Finish is not the same as Sync Cook
When two foods need different settings but should reach the table together, Sync Finish starts the longer program first and holds the shorter one until their remaining times match. By contrast, Sync Cook copies the same time, temperature, preheat and shake-reminder settings across both baskets; the manual positions that mode for matching foods or a larger same-food batch. These are alternatives for different meals, not one combined mode. The manual says Broil works with only one basket at a time and cannot be used with Sync Cook. It also explains that changing settings during Sync Finish or Sync Cook cancels that coordination, so set up the basket programs before starting if synchronized timing is the point.
Air Fry, Roast, Reheat, Bake, Broil and Dehydrate (DRY) appear in the manual’s function list. Preheat and Shake Reminder are additional options. The model-wide specification lists a 95–450°F temperature range and 1-minute–48-hour timer range. Dry’s charted default is six hours; the overall timer range should not be read as a promise that every mode uses every duration. The manual also says not to leave the fryer unattended while it is on, an important limit if you are considering an extended drying program.
Measure the whole appliance and drawer path
COSORI lists 120 volts, 60 hertz, 1,750 watts, a 19.2-pound appliance weight, and dimensions of 17.3 × 15.4 × 11.9 inches including the handles. The page does not label the dimension order, so compare the exact model against your counter rather than assuming which figure is depth. The manual calls for at least five inches of space above and behind the fryer and enough room in front to remove each basket. Leave a stable, heat-resistant place to rest a hot drawer. At 9 quarts total, the appliance is not a guarantee that any particular food load will fit in one layer; the manual warns that overfilled baskets can cook unevenly.
Material disclosure and upkeep
The manual identifies aluminum-metal baskets and crisper plates with a nonstick coating. The current exact-model page does not state that the food-contact surfaces are PFAS-free, so this review treats that question as unknown rather than borrowing the claim from another COSORI product. The same product page displays a California Proposition 65 warning naming lead; it does not give a concentration measurement. If either disclosure is decisive for you, read the exact manufacturer notice and ask COSORI about the particular materials instead of treating a model-family label as an answer.
The manual says the baskets and crisper plates are dishwasher-safe after cooling; washing by hand with hot, soapy water and a non-abrasive sponge is another option. Keep metal utensils and abrasive cleaners away from the coating, do not immerse the housing, and make sure the heating coil is dry before use. The crisper plate can fall out when a basket is turned over, so hold the drawer level when unloading. The window can show water spots after washing; the manual includes a drying instruction for that situation.
Who should consider the CAF-R901-AUS?
Consider this exact model if separate removable baskets, independent time-and-temperature settings, viewing windows and a synchronized finish fit your meal routine. It is especially worth comparing with the TWINFRY if you want to remove one basket while leaving the other in place, rather than handle one shared wide drawer. Choose the TWINFRY instead if its divider-out GrandZone matters more than two separate drawers; its manual has a different long-run warning that is worth reading before planning extended Dry use. Keep looking if you require an explicit manufacturer PFAS-free statement, remote app cooking controls or an undivided 9-quart cooking cavity. The box and seller listing should show CAF-R901-AUS; COSORI’s other dual-zone or oven products are not interchangeable with this assessment.
