Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Are physical analog dials important, or do you require a digital panel?
This manual-backed reference has separate physical temperature and time dials; it is not a digital preset panel.
Explore this need in the finder →Is a five-quart nominal capacity essential?
No. The manual lists 4 qt / 3.8 L.
Explore this need in the finder →Do you require Dehydrate or another mode beyond Air Fry?
The manual describes Air Fry; the separate 170°F Warm setting is not a drying program.
Explore this need in the finder →Is a named Dehydrate program distinct from Warm essential?
Yes, the manual does not document Dehydrate.
Explore this need in the finder →The Instant Pot Essentials 4QT Air Fryer, exact code 140-3135-01 and manual model AFB4002BK, is a compact one-basket design with two physical dials rather than a digital preset panel. The U.S. manual identifies a 4-quart / 3.8-liter basket, 1,500 watts and 120V/60Hz supply; it describes Air Fry as the cooking program and includes a separate Warm position on the temperature dial. This is a manual-backed reference, not a current purchase recommendation: the item does not appear in the archived current air-fryer collection, and no exact current retail offer or stock was verified.

Simple controls, one cooking program
The manual’s control plan is deliberately straightforward: one dial selects temperature, the other sets the timer, and indicator lights show power/heating. The temperature scale includes Off, Warm at 170°F, and 200–400°F for Air Fry; the timer dial runs from zero to 60 minutes. That makes the unit a better fit for someone who prefers direct physical settings over menu-driven presets. It is not a multi-program appliance just because the control is analog. Warm is a separate holding position, not a Dehydrate mode or a documented 170-degree cooking cycle, and the manual names no Roast, Bake, Broil, Reheat or Grill program. Use the correct recipe and verify doneness independently; a dial does not provide a digital readout of the selected temperature or time.
Four nominal quarts may be enough for modest portions or a small counter, but it is below a five-quart minimum and it is still one shared basket. A model with two drawers is a different solution when two foods need independent settings; it does not turn this smaller fryer into a dual-zone machine. If you want a similar basket format with a digital screen and named Roast, Bake, Reheat or Dehydrate modes, compare the Vortex Plus 4QT 140-3079-01. For a nominal six-quart single basket, the ClearCook 6QT is the more appropriate capacity comparison and adds a viewing window. Neither comparison is a claim that all Vortex products have the same controls or program list.
Care, size and unanswered material questions
The manual identifies the basket and cooking tray as dishwasher-safe and describes the tray as nonstick. It does not name the coating chemistry or state that all food-contact surfaces are PFAS-free. If an explicit surface-material declaration is essential, the documentation does not meet that need; a dishwasher claim answers a cleaning question, not a coating question. The manual lists dimensions of 13.82 inches long by 9.92 inches wide by 11.65 inches high and a weight of 8.58 pounds. Those figures may help judge counter fit, but allow the manual’s five-inch operating clearance and room to pull the basket out. The opaque basket offers no documented view into food while it cooks.
The 170°F Warm position should be interpreted narrowly. The named Air Fry range begins at 200°F, so a request for documented low-temperature cooking or drying is not met by the dial’s Warm marking. The manual describes one 4-quart basket, one control plan and one mode of cooking. That simplicity can be an advantage for a user who wants a timer and temperature dial without navigating presets; it is a limitation for someone choosing by functions, exact temperature control, or simultaneous meals. The Cuisinart TOA-70NAS offers physical dials and a separately listed Grill function, but it is a door-front countertop oven and shares one cavity; its form is not interchangeable with this basket fryer.
What this reference can—and cannot—support
Use the 140-3135-01 code to identify the correct manual and image. Do not substitute “Instant Essentials 4QT” for the exact SKU when checking a seller’s condition, package or parts. The manufacturer manual settles core operation, dimensions, electrical rating and care; it does not settle coating chemistry, current warranty terms, stock, price or retail availability. The current Instant Pot collection archive is only a boundary for that saved collection and is not proof that the wider product catalogue is complete. Keep this assessment visible for comparison, but out of present-day purchase actions until an exact offer is verified.
