PowerXL Air Fryer Pro X GLA-1002 review

Earlier U.S. oven-form air fryer with a model-labelled GLA-1002 manual, digital controls and nine presets including Dehydrator. Capacity is unresolved: the index calls it 12QT, while the manual says 6 qt and 700 cu in. The manual lists 120 V/60 Hz and 1,700 W.

A useful fit for

A fit for shoppers who want an oven-form, digitally controlled model with a separate Dehydrator routine and who can decide without a quart-size threshold.

The main tradeoff

Index and model-labelled guide conflict on nominal capacity, and the guide’s 6-qt/700-cu-in figures do not reconcile. Capacity stays null; do not use this model for a hard size requirement. The optional Fry Basket may not be included, and two independent zones are not documented.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Would a door-front digital oven work better than a pull-out drawer?

The model-labelled guide documents an oven cavity, LED touch controls and one cooking zone; exact accessories vary.

Would the separate Dehydrator mode be useful if 90°F is enough?

The exact manual documents 90–170°F for Dehydrator and a separate 2–24-hour timer.

Are two independently set cooking zones essential?

No: the exact manual describes one cavity and one control set, even when trays sit at different levels.

Do you require the stated capacity to meet a hard threshold?

The exact GLA-1002 manual lists 120 V/60 Hz and 1,700 W and documents an oven cavity, crisper trays and optional fry basket. It labels the unit 6 Quart but lists 700 cu in; the PowerXL-linked index row says 12QT. Capacity remains unknown for hard filtering.

PowerXL Air Fryer Pro X GLA-1002 review

The GLA-1002 is the manual-labelled PowerXL AirFryer Pro X, an oven-shaped countertop appliance with digital controls. The exact product-manual index row calls it a 12-quart Air Fryer Pro X, but the model-labelled manual cover and title call it a 6-quart unit. The manual’s specification table repeats 6 qt while also listing 700 cubic inches, a volume that does not reconcile with six U.S. quarts. Because the size sources conflict, this review keeps capacity unknown for strict filtering rather than selecting the larger or smaller number.

A smaller Pro X? Verify the unit, not the title

The Pro X’s model code is clear: the manual cover and spec table print GLA-1002. The problem is not whether there is a documented appliance under that code; it is which capacity description applies. That makes a difference when you are trying to fit a particular pan, cook for a known household size or compare minimum-quart requirements. Do not infer interior dimensions from the listed 700 cubic inches, and do not use the index’s 12-quart label as a dependable capacity. Ask for the rating/model plate and usable cavity measurements if size is essential, or choose a model whose exact listing and owner guide agree.

This is a single door-front cooking cavity, not a conventional drawer or two independent baskets. The guide describes crisper trays and a drip tray and mentions an optional fry basket with a basket handle. “Optional” matters: the accessory is not guaranteed in every package. It also does not make the appliance a drawer fryer. A glass door and internal light let you look into the oven area, while opening the door pauses a cycle. One set of controls means no synchronized finish for separately timed zones.

Mode choices and operating routine

The manual names French Fry, Steaks/Chops, Fish, Shrimp, Pizza, Chicken, Baking, Dehydrator and Reheat. Its overall temperature table shows 150–400°F for ordinary cooking, while Dehydrator ranges from 90°F to 170°F and runs from two to 24 hours in half-hour increments. Other modes use a one-to-90-minute timer. The separate Dehydrator range is the reason this Pro X can serve for long drying jobs as well as meal cooking; it does not mean that the other presets share a 90°F setting.

With one cavity, you choose the shelf, tray or optional basket for the food and may need to turn or rotate it partway through. The manual recommends adding time when starting cold and provides preset defaults as starting points. It is still necessary to monitor the actual batch: loading more food changes cook time, and several shelves do not create a second thermostat. There is no measured claim here about how evenly the Pro X browns a full load or how fast it reaches temperature.

Power, space and maintenance

Unlike the uncertain quart figure, the GLA-1002 manual prints AC 120 V/60 Hz and 1,700 watts for this exact model code. Use the unit’s own rating label and the maker’s outlet direction, especially when looking at a secondhand appliance. The guide calls for a level, heat-resistant surface, unobstructed air vents and five inches of space around the unit. Measure the body and front-door clearance from the actual seller listing; the manuals’ volume conflict does not provide exterior dimensions.

The owner’s guide says the cooking accessories are stainless steel and dishwasher-safe, but recommends soaking or hand-washing stuck-on residue. The powered unit and door must not be immersed or placed in a dishwasher. Exact package contents vary, and the fry basket is marked optional, so verify the contents before you count on basket-style cooking. Coating chemistry, current accessory supply, a present warranty and current stock status are not established by this manual record.

Who should consider it?

Consider GLA-1002 when you want an oven-form PowerXL with digital settings, several ordinary cooking presets and a long Dehydrator program, and when a strict size threshold is not essential. It is not the right choice if you need two separately controlled baskets, synchronized finishing, or a confirmed minimum capacity. If a 12-quart cavity is required, compare the separately documented GLA-1005 instead; that manual identifies GLA-1005 and consistently specifies 12 quarts (693 cubic inches) with 120 V/60 Hz and 1,700 watts. That is a source-based comparison, not a performance ranking.

Before ordering an older unit, confirm the model label is GLA-1002, ask which accessories are included and check that the actual countertop footprint works. The mismatched 12-quart index title is a reason to verify the exact product details, not a reason to quietly relabel GLA-1002 or merge it into another Air Fryer Pro family model. Its useful operating modes can be assessed; its exact capacity cannot be treated as settled from the sources reviewed.
