A useful fit for

A documented 6-quart one-pot layout for someone who wants air frying plus separate pot cooking modes such as steam, slow cook, sous vide and rice, and is comfortable changing lids instead of using a pull-out basket.

The main tradeoff

It has one shared cooking area, no basket or glass cooking bowl, no two-food synchronized finish, and no verified seller package. The manual’s dehydration range conflicts across sections; dimensions, current stock, coating chemistry, PFAS statement and recall status are unknown.

PowerXL Grill Air Fryer Combo Plus MFC-AF-6B review

The PowerXL Grill Air Fryer Combo Plus is a six-quart cooker built around an inner pot, an air-frying lid and a separate glass lid. Its exact model code is MFC-AF-6B. The owner’s manual lists 1550 watts, AC 120 volts/60 Hz, digital controls and a 100–500°F display range. Those specifications describe a small countertop multicooker with an air-fry option, not a conventional pull-out-basket fryer. Whether that arrangement is a benefit depends on how you cook and how much room you have for lifting the lid.

The manufacturer’s owner-manual cover identifies model MFC-AF-6B and a 6-quart capacity. This exact-model manual image does not establish whether the image is a photograph or rendering, or what accessories a seller includes.

One pot changes the daily routine

The manual says the Inner Pot must be in place for any cooking cycle. For Air Fry, Grill, Bake and Roast, the Air Frying Lid sits on top; Slow Cook, Steam, Sauté, Rice, Simmer, Sous Vide, Fry and Keep Warm use the Glass Lid. In practical terms, you are switching lids over a shared vessel rather than sliding out a basket. There is one cooking area, no separate zones and no glass cooking bowl. You can use the Grill Plate to lift food for air circulation, grilling or steaming, but the manual warns that package contents vary by model. Do not assume a used or retail MFC-AF-6B listing includes that plate without checking the box contents.

Twelve named modes, with real operating limits

Air Fry is only one of the twelve named presets. Grill is a separate setting that heats its plate, and the instructions say to preheat the plate. Steam uses water and the Glass Lid; it is not a steam-and-air-fry combination cycle. The manual also documents rice, sous vide, simmering, slow cooking, baking and roasting. This range is useful if one pot can replace several countertop routines. It is less useful if you want the quick drawer access, a crisping basket you can lift to shake, or two foods finishing on different schedules.

Read the mode chart instead of treating the 100–500°F display range as a setting available everywhere. The manual lists 250–500°F for Grill, 250–375°F for Sauté and 110–195°F for Sous Vide. It describes Dehydrate as a low-temperature use under Air Fry—not a thirteenth preset—and its explanation and chart conflict on the exact upper temperature and lower time increment. The low setting is documented, but a specific dehydrate endpoint or timer requirement should be checked against current instructions before purchase. The Fry preset uses oil, is not for deep frying, and must not be used with the Air Frying Lid; the guide limits oil depth to one inch.

Capacity, controls and cleanup

The six-quart figure is the manual’s listed Inner Pot capacity, not a tested food yield or a promise about servings. The manual does not supply an exterior footprint, lid-up clearance or a useful fill volume. Its digital panel uses a rotary knob and buttons for Start, Timer, Temperature, Delay Timer, Cancel and Keep Warm. You can adjust cooking time and temperature; the Delay Timer is listed for selected pot modes, not every preset. Rice also behaves differently from a simple countdown: its timer does not count down in the normal way because cooking time varies with the amount of rice.

The manual identifies only the Inner Pot and Glass Lid as dishwasher-safe, while recommending hand-washing to preserve the cookware. That is not a dishwasher-safe basket claim: there is no pull-out basket. It calls the cooking surface nonstick but does not identify the coating chemistry or claim that food-contact surfaces are PFAS-free. The main unit must not be immersed. At 1550 watts, the manual’s troubleshooting section says the appliance should be the only item plugged into its outlet; it also warns against extension cords and outlets below the counter, so check the actual connection and counter layout.

How your answers change the fit

Choose the pot-and-lid layout if that is the routine you want; a basket-first shopper should choose a drawer model instead. A six-quart minimum is supported, but an eight-quart minimum rules this model out. Select a separate Steam mode only if that meets your need; requiring simultaneous steam and air frying will exclude it. Likewise, a dishwasher-safe cooking vessel is documented, but a dishwasher-safe pull-out basket is not. No answer can turn unknown package contents into an included grill plate, baking pan or other accessory.

What “Combo Plus” does—and does not—tell you

Compare the exact model code, not the word “Plus” alone. The separate MFC-AF-6 and MFC-AF-6C Combo 12-in-1 manual also lists six-quart capacity and 1550 watts, while the MFC-AF-8 is the eight-quart sibling. These paper specifications do not establish a performance upgrade for the Plus or a tested cooking-result difference. If extra pot capacity is the deciding factor, the eight-quart code is a clearer distinction; if you want a different finish, the relevant seller listing must show the exact AF-6B unit and condition.

This assessment is based on an owner manual carrying a 2021 copyright, not a current stock check or lab test. The captured PowerXL air-fryer collection did not include this model code, but that absence does not prove it is discontinued or unavailable elsewhere. Before buying, verify the complete MFC-AF-6B label, seller condition, included accessories, current return terms and whether the manual matches the exact unit. No current offer, price, package configuration, transferable guarantee or recall status was established.
