A useful fit for

An earlier-model shopper wanting one nominal 7-qt basket, digital time/temperature controls, documented 120-V / 60-Hz power, and dishwasher-safe basket and fry tray, with current availability not assumed.

The main tradeoff

The GLA-502S has one cooking zone, a 400°F ceiling and no documented app control or independent second basket. Its dimensions and coating chemistry remain unknown; current stock, active warranty and replacement-part support are not verified.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Is a single 7-qt basket enough, or do you need two separate cooking zones?

The GLA-502S manual lists one 7-qt outer basket and an inner fry tray. The tray does not create a second independently controlled zone.

Would a digital panel with food presets suit you better than manual dials?

The manual shows a digital display, adjustment buttons and eight presets; it does not list an analogue-dial interface.

Are 180–400°F and a 1–60-minute timer sufficient for the meals you plan?

Those are the GLA-502S manual’s documented adjustable ranges; it does not document a higher temperature setting or long-duration dehydration cycle.

Do you require a documented U.S. 120-V / 60-Hz connection?

The model-specific specification table lists 120 V, 60 Hz and 1,700 W.

Is dishwasher-safe cleanup important?

The manual marks both the basket and fry tray as dishwasher-safe, while still advising nonabrasive care for their nonstick surfaces.

The PowerXL Air Fryer Elite GLA-502S is a seven-quart, single-basket model with a digital control panel. Its model-labelled owner’s manual specifies 120 V / 60 Hz power, 1,700 watts, an adjustable 180–400°F range, and a 1–60-minute timer. Those exact facts make the GLA-502S a useful earlier-model reference when you want a larger household basket and ordinary time-and-temperature control, but it is not a verified current-stock recommendation.

Seven quarts in one cooking space

The manual identifies one removable outer basket with a fry tray set inside it. Seven quarts is the maker’s nominal capacity; it does not tell you how much of every food can be spread in a single layer or how many servings your family will actually want. For crisp results, the booklet advises shaking smaller foods partway through, and it warns not to overfill because airflow matters. Think of the size as one shared cooking area rather than two independently timed zones. The included-component diagram also lists a grill plate as an optional item that may be sold separately, so do not assume that accessory comes with every GLA-502S package.

Digital settings rather than fixed-only cooking

The panel has a time-and-temperature display, plus buttons for selecting presets and adjusting each value. You are not locked into the presets: the manual gives a temperature range of 180°F to 400°F and says temperature can be changed in 5-degree increments; the timer runs from one to 60 minutes in one-minute steps. Its eight preset choices cover French fries, roast, bake, fish, shrimp, chicken, steak and reheating. Each preset is only a starting point, not a guarantee for every ingredient size or brand. The booklet explicitly calls its cooking chart a guideline. It also describes reheating as a use, but it does not establish a separate long-duration dehydration cycle, steam function or dual-zone program.

One interaction is worth knowing before you hand the controls to someone else: the default power-button setting is 370°F for 15 minutes, and pressing the power button again starts cooking. A selected preset begins after a short pause. If you want a different doneness, the manual says you may adjust time and temperature while cooking. That makes the control scheme more adaptable than a simple timer-only appliance, while still leaving the cook responsible for checking food and shaking it when the recipe calls for it.

Cleaning and the unlisted details

For routine cleanup, the GLA-502S has a practical advantage: the manual calls both the basket and fry tray dishwasher-safe. It still cautions against abrasive utensils or cleaners that might damage the nonstick surface and recommends allowing the appliance to cool before cleaning. The manual does not identify the coating chemistry, establish a PFAS claim, or document the appliance’s outside dimensions. If a countertop clearance, material restriction or storage footprint is essential, treat those fields as unknown rather than inferring them from the cover image or the seven-quart label.

The listed electrical connection is standard U.S. household supply at 120 volts and 60 hertz, with a rated 1,700-watt load. That is a useful filter if your circuit or power requirements matter. It is not a compact appliance on the strength of its capacity alone: measure the space you have and verify clearance from the exact unit, because this manual’s specification table does not provide width, height or depth.

How questionnaire answers change the fit

If one basket is enough, seven quarts is within your required capacity range, a digital panel is welcome, and 400°F is a sufficient upper setting, the GLA-502S matches that plan on paper. A need for two separate baskets, independent-zone synchronization, an 8-quart minimum, a setting above 400°F, or an exact exterior dimension rules it out or requires a different verified product. It should also be excluded from a default current-model shortlist unless you deliberately allow earlier models: the manual is from 2021, and the current PowerXL Air Fryers collection we checked does not list the GLA-502S. That is not proof that no retailer has old stock, and it is not a claim that the product was recalled or formally discontinued.

Do not assume a newer PowerXL product is a direct substitute just because it shares a family name. The current category page shows other models, including an AIRMAX 8-quart and a Vortex Pro 7-quart listing, but their model-specific details and actual availability must be checked separately. The GLA-502S is also unlike the small, analogue YJ-803: the latter’s manual documents a two-quart fryer, while this Elite has a digital panel and seven-quart nominal capacity. If the Elite is a used-unit candidate, compare the model label, included basket and fry tray, and condition of the nonstick surfaces; do not assume parts interchange across PowerXL generations.

Who should keep it in view?

This is a sensible reference for someone who wants a relatively roomy single basket, independent time and temperature adjustment, and dishwasher-safe removable cooking parts—and who is willing to shop among earlier models. It is a poor fit when separate cooking zones, a documented compact footprint, a specific coating, or a current warranty and replacement-parts path are non-negotiable. The manual’s warranty language is historical documentation, not confirmation that a new GLA-502S is presently sold or covered. Treat the review as a fact-led comparison, not a hands-on test or a statement about the condition of a particular used appliance.
