Cooking layout
One wide drawer or two cooking zones?
“Dual” can describe the cooking plan rather than the number of removable drawers. Some countertop fryers use one wide pull-out basket with a divider that creates two separately controlled zones; remove the divider and the same appliance becomes one large cooking area. Other designs use two independent drawers. Both approaches can run separate settings, but they differ in how food is loaded, unloaded and accommodated on the counter.
Two COSORI 9-quart layouts, different drawers
The COSORI TWINFRY CAF-TF901-KUS uses one wide pull-out basket. Its removable divider separates that space into two 4.5-quart cooking zones, and removing the divider creates a single GrandZone. The CAF-R901-AUS instead has two physically separate 4.5-quart baskets; it does not open into one uninterrupted 9-quart cavity. Both offer a documented way to coordinate a finish, though the exact controls differ; separate drawers let you take out one side without carrying the other with it. The R901 also has clear windows in its baskets. Read the TWINFRY assessment and the Dual Basket assessment before deciding which arrangement better fits the foods you cook and your counter depth.
Decide which two-zone feature you need
Write down the foods you most often want to serve together. If they need different heat or different durations, check that the exact manual lets you set the zones separately. A synchronized-finish feature is another distinct capability: it can hold the shorter program until the longer one has advanced, so the two are scheduled to finish together. Do not infer synchronization just because there are two controls or two baskets; verify that behavior for the exact model.
One wide drawer has a shared handling step
With a divider-in setup, the same drawer is pulled out to reach both sections. That can be convenient when you want one wide basket body and the ability to use a single larger area later. It also means both sides move together when you inspect food or carry the drawer to a heat-safe surface. Consider whether you can lift and set down the combined drawer comfortably when it is hot and loaded. A photo with two foods can look like two separate baskets even when a divider separates sections within one drawer.
When the divider comes out
A removable divider may unlock a full-width or full-length cooking mode. Confirm what the manufacturer calls that mode, whether it changes the programmed settings, and whether the manual supplies separate directions. One undivided zone cannot cook two foods at different settings simultaneously, even if it retains the same overall advertised quart capacity. Conversely, the full-area plan may be useful for a wider ingredient or a single load that benefits from more room. Nominal capacity is not a serving guarantee; crowding and food shape still affect spacing and air circulation.
Measure both footprint and access
A broad appliance may fit within the counter edges but still require space above and behind its vents and room in front to withdraw a single wide basket. Check the exact manual’s clearance instructions and measure the drawer’s path, not just the appliance body. Leave a stable heat-safe place to set down the hot basket and follow the manual's directions for separating, washing and reinstalling the divider and crisper plates.
Check claims and operating limits model by model
Material language, dishwasher instructions and timer rules belong to an exact model and manual. COSORI's CAF-TF901-KUS page describes a PFAS-free ceramic coating; its manual lists Dry up to 48 hours but also includes a safety warning that says not to exceed 60 minutes on in a two-hour period. Because the text does not reconcile those statements, do not assume a long cycle is an approved plan without checking with the manufacturer. This example shows why a feature list alone is not enough.
Use the finder to distinguish a one-zone plan from two independently set zones. Then read the exact review, confirm the full model code with the seller and compare the real basket configuration and operating instructions before purchase.
