Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Is one pull-out drawer enough when you want a viewing window and one setting at a time?
Yes. The NA221/00 has one windowed pan, one frying insert and one local time-temperature plan; the window helps check food but does not replace shaking or turning.
Explore this need in the finder →Do you prefer local panel operation over controlling an active cook from your phone?
This model uses its own control panel; its U.S. manual says it is not intended to run with a separate remote-control system.
Explore this need in the finder →Is a 4.4-quart listed capacity enough for your normal batch?
Philips lists 4.4 quarts (4.2 liters); its manual gives portion-specific guidance such as up to 500 g of fries and advises shaking larger batches.
Explore this need in the finder →Do you need the exact model's manufacturer documentation to state both 120 V and 60 Hz?
The NA221/00 U.S. product page states 120 V but not frequency, so this model cannot confirm a requirement for both 120 V and 60 Hz.
Explore this need in the finder →The Philips 2000 Series NA221/00 is a windowed 4.4-quart (4.2-liter) single-basket model Philips lists in its U.S. store. Its appeal is practical rather than elaborate: one removable pan and frying insert, a lighted window, direct time-and-temperature controls and familiar preset menus. Philips's exact support title calls this code silver, while a product-detail field says black and its gallery shows a dark housing with a silver handle. The unsuffixed code matters: it is distinct from NA221/00R0, so do not transfer an electrical rating or purchase listing between suffixes.
A compact drawer, with the capacity caveat in view
Philips describes a 4.2-liter pan and markets the volume as 4.4 quarts. That is the manufacturer's nominal capacity, not a promise that a deep pile of food cooks like a flat single layer. The U.S. manual gives more useful portion context: up to 500 g (18 oz) of fries, two to six chicken drumsticks, or up to 500 g of mixed vegetables appear in its food table. It also says larger portions may need to be shaken, turned or stirred two or three times. Those are starting quantities and directions, not an independent performance test.
The see-through front window and its light let you inspect browning without pulling the pan just to look. That can make a small-batch routine easier to monitor, but it does not remove the manual's turning guidance or create more cooking area. A crowded batch may need a larger basket.
One basket means one cooking plan at a time
The manual shows a single pull-out pan with a removable frying insert and one control panel. Set a time and temperature for that drawer; there is no second zone for a side dish at another setting. The nine named preset menus cover frozen potato snacks, fresh fries, chicken drumsticks, fish fillets, muffins, meat chops, mixed vegetables, breakfast and Keep Warm. Philips also advertises 13 cooking methods, but a larger methods headline is not evidence of 13 independently controlled programs or multiple zones.
Place the appliance on a stable, level, heat-resistant surface, fit the insert in the pan, choose a time and temperature or preset, and follow the food-table advice about shaking. Philips says preheating is not necessary. The manual says the machine pauses when the pan is removed. Keep Warm is a fixed 170°F (80°C), 30-minute preset, not a freely adjustable low-temperature mode.
There is no documented phone-start routine here. The manual says the appliance is not intended to operate with a separate remote-control system. HomeID may provide recipes and setup material, but recipe access is not the same as remotely starting or changing this exact fryer. If the point of buying is to run two foods with different settings together, choose a documented dual-zone layout instead, such as the COSORI CAF-R901-AUS with two physical baskets; that larger arrangement takes a different amount of counter space.
Cleanup is well documented; the coating is not a PFAS-free choice
The U.S. manual allows the pan and frying insert in a dishwasher or hand washing with hot water, dish soap and a non-abrasive sponge. It advises removing rendered fat after each use and warns against metal utensils and abrasive cleaning. Philips's support FAQ names NA221/00 among the applicable models and says the pan and basket are PTFE-coated. That is a material disclosure, not a PFAS-free claim. If you need a PFAS-free statement or a stainless-steel basket body, this model is not a confirmed match.
The manual mentions baking and breakfast accessories for certain preparations, but the U.S. box list names only the fryer, power cable, manual and cable hook. Check whether a tray or rack is included and compatible before planning to use one.
Counter planning and the electrical label deserve exact-code checks
Philips lists a 10-pound weight and dimensions of 13 × 17.75 × 12.25 inches, but does not label the axes. Measure your counter and cabinet opening instead of guessing which number is width or depth. The manual calls for at least 10 cm (about four inches) of open space behind, beside and above the fryer.
The U.S. product page specifies 120 V but does not publish frequency or wattage for NA221/00. The linked U.S. manual says to compare the voltage indicated on the appliance with local mains. If 60 Hz or an exact wattage is essential, ask for a model-specific photo of the appliance rating label rather than borrowing data from an /00R0 sibling.
Who should consider it, and when to step up
The NA221/00 suits someone who wants one modest drawer, a viewing window and dishwasher cleaning for its removable pan and insert. It is a poor fit if you need two temperatures at once, app control, a stainless basket or a PFAS-free claim. For more room, compare the windowed Philips NA330/00 6.5-quart model or a larger single basket such as the COSORI TurboBlaze, checking each exact listing's supply details. For separate cooking settings, choose a divided or dual-basket plan rather than counting marketing cooking methods.
Before buying, verify the code says NA221/00, decide whether 4.4 quarts fits your usual batch, and confirm the appliance rating label if frequency or wattage matters. The Philips product image below is attached to the exact NA221/00 page; the brand does not label it as a photograph or render.
